How deep does this rabbit-hole go?

Well, What EUSA They is hearing some interesting stories about the goings on in this election that make Adam's statement seem disingenuous, at best. While his statement, see below, suggests it was a one off infraction we have heard otherwise from one of the candidates. He claims that all the candidates were "aware that Adam had been cheating for a number of weeks". Furthermore Adam had been warned about campaigning out of hours by the returning officer before this. Along side the old allegations are new ones that Adam's supporters were responsible for the removal of campaign materials put up by the other candidates.

Such tactics over a student election? A touch ruthless, if all this is true.

We also hear that Harry asked Adam to do the gentlemanly thing stand aside in the face of these accusations but Adam refused.

Does he deserve to be removed from the race? How will votes be allocated if he is removed? What if Adam got a majority of votes? Would a new election lead to street fighting and open bloodshed?

Let us know what you think should happen and as soon as we hear more you'll have it.

adam ramsay is a lying cheat, the incident in pollocks was the one he had been disqualified for because that was the only one that could be conclusively proved - but everyone complained about him four or five times for much bigger things.

He may have cheated, but the other candidates have hardly been spot-free. Cole with the blog, Ward with his lies and Arafa, well... ...nothing to pin on him per se, but do we really want him?

I'd rather he stay in than we have Ward the tool (which I fear for since Ramsay supporters have probably second preferenced him).

adam was warned 2 weeks ago that he had broken the rules by campaigning in pollock outside the set hours, and he was told that if he did so again there would be ramifications. he obviously didn't impress this enough on his team, who were apparently there the week before the elections as well as during wednesday daytime. if he can't even control his own campaign team, how could he lead eusa?

there are clear rules about the elections. it's really really difficult to get disqualified by boyack but he's managed it - because he effectively cheated twice. the first time boyack let him off, the second he was busted.

eusaless or schoolgate aren't in any way breaches of election rules.

Schoolgate wasn't really anything in the first place and EUSA-less although manipulative wasn't a breach of the rules at all.
IF he has admitted he has cheated he must quit the election. It is the only right thing to do!

Do the election rules state that it's ok for harry cole's girlfriend to hand out leaflets wearing his campaign t-shirt on our campus when she attends a different university? I was under the impression only Edinburgh University students could actively campaign that way, a fact that Adam Ramsay pressed upon his campaigners. Anybody who knows him would no that he would NEVER knowingly cheat. He didn't rig the vote or hold a gun to anyone's head. The only reason the others are so quick to accuse him is fear.

harry cole's girlfriend was handing out flyers but harry cleared this with boyack before. the rule stopping non-matriculated students from campaigning is to stop political parties bussing in supporters to help, not to stop family members/girlfriends.

in any case, adam ramsay's mum was putting up posters.

adam cheated last year - he recently admitted so to a member of nick ward's campaign team. come on, how can you say he'd never knowingly cheat?!

i pity anyone who voted for adam ramsay. just gald that if he does, by some strange and stupid reason, win that i won't be here to watch him ruin eusa.

Well done to Harry and Nick for starting the blog up again. I always thought you guys wasted too much energy hating on eachother.

Adam cheated last year how exactly?

So Adam's supporters took down other candidates posters? Funny that, I distinctly remember walking into the JCMB at 14.00 the monday afternoon before last to see his posters, and walking out again at 16.00 to see Nicks- Adams had disappeared!
Coincidence?

I know that Adam would do a fantastic job of putting eusa back on top after the farce that was Josh Macalister. He is genuinely dislikeable and has made no attempt to make good on his, quite frankly disgusting, policies of last year. 'Smart thinking, cheap thinking' is insulting to anyone who has an active role in student politics. Adam has demonstrated his commitment to eusa over and over and the policy of throwing tonnes of mud in the hope some of it will stick seems to be the only option open to his petty rivals.

You are a disgrace.

In response to 21:23

I do understand that emotions are running high in the wake of this election drama but in as much as you are entitled to have negative opinions of Adam I am entitled the same of Josh. I accept that personal jibes at his character are out of line and for that I apologise. But, casting aspersions on Adam's character about numerous incidences of cheating without proof are equally unfair. I voted for Adam last year because I truly believe in his devotion to the job and also supported his major policies. The same was true of this election and I have heard no proof of anything that would undermine the integrity of Adam in the role of President other than failing to know exactly where all his campaigners were at all times day and night, something which is quite impossible. Were there evidence that he had attempted to fix the vote of course I would think differently but this seems so minimal to undermine all his efforts in the campaign.

What the hell are you doing on this board anyway? I suggest that if you want to condone cheating of the highest order, then you can fuck right off. There is no place for people like you in this university. And there is no place for Ramsay in EUSA.

Ok - so clearly you are not a rational or intelligent person and there's very little point debating with you.

Anonymous said...

Haha you want rational and intelligent debate and so go onto Nick Ward's version of eusaless. Well done pal, well done. And run along now before you do your cause any more harm than you already have.

For the last time, we are (mark me here!) NOT Nick Ward. Nor Harry Cole. Nor Gabe whatsisface. And at least we can all agree we're not Adam.

Get over the fact we are independent.

Find it kindof suspicious that a supposedly independent writer who supposedly wants to give a balanced point of view, is consistently unable to remember the name of one of the candidates.

I don't believe for a second that you can't remember his name. That's why I don't believe for a second that you're "independent". We're not stupid, you know.

Or could we be making some subtle point about his failure to make a real impact on the election issues? Nah, we must be slack jawed troglodytes in the thrall of Harry or Nick. Or we could just have poor memories. I'd say you decide but I have nothing but utter contempt for your judgement if you refuse to see we are independent.
